The following are excerpts from an artcle by Mrs. Helen Hull Hitchcock in the American magazin,"Voices"
One of the most universal images in all of Christianity is that of Jesus as light of the world.
Light is the opposite of darkness,of course. In any case, light overcomes darkness, reveals what is hidden, concealed, and makes it possible for us to see our sorroundings clearly. Light revales the truth.
But there is another aspect of natural light: the warmth it generates.
Light is also necesary for anything to grow. Light is intimitly connected with life.
Without light,life is impossible.
Light is so fundamental to the world that God created light on the first day of creation.
