Un piatto di verdura offerto con amore é meglio di un bue grasso a una tavola di nemici. Meglio un pezzo di pane secco e la serenità, che una casa dove si banchetta splendidamente e si litiga.

"A simple plate of vegetables offered with love is better than a big juicy steak eaten with enemies. Better to eat a piece of dry bread in peace, than to dine in a house where there is constant quarreling." (Prov. 15:17, 17:1)
Il vescovo Gianfranco Ravasi nel Suo libro "Mattutino tempo del silenzio" osserva che anche ai nostri giorni all'interno di molte case, il lusso si mescola all'odio, la gentilezza esteriore al tradimento, l'eleganza al disprezzo, la convivenza all'indifferenza reciproca. Il Signore preferisce la povertà dignitosa all'ipocrisia di un pranzo ufficiale o allo spreco annoiato di un banchetto di ricchi.
Bishop Gianfranco Ravasi in his book "Mattutino Tempo Del Silenzio" observed that even in our day, inside many homes: wealth is mixed with hatred, external kindness hides betrayal, elegant manners can cover up a repugnance for the other, being indifferent to the other even though living under the same roof. The Lord prefers a dignified poverty to the hypocrisy of an official dinner or the boring waste of a rich banquet.
Il volere sempre di più, l'invidia per chi possiede più di te é ansia, tormento, agitazione, mentre l'uomo contento del dono dell'amore e fiducioso in Dio vive sereno." La serenità allunga i giorni della vita, tensione e rabbia accorciano la vita.( Siracide 30,22-24).
The desire to always want more, the envy for those who possess more than you leads to anxiety, torment, and agitation while the man who is content with the gifts of love and confidence in God lives serenely. "Serenity lengthens one's life, while tension and rage shortens one's days on earth" (Sir. 30:22-24).
