First of all, I want to share with you a part of a magnificent poem by a medical doctor, Michele Mastrobuono, who is the author of numerous books of poetry.

un atto d'amore non finito,
sapendo di realtà non conosciute.

How many things I understood
when I saw death in the face.
To die means to flee
putting aside a fruit we have just tasted,
it's an act of love that's not yet over,
realizing that I have yet lived fully my life.
Se consideriamo il vangelo di oggi 25 gennaio anno B, Gesù dice:“Il tempo è compiuto e il regno di Dio è vicino; convertitevi e credete al vangelo”. La pienezza del tempo significa la presenza del Figlio di Dio incarnato e vivo tra noi, significa ancora il suo annuncio di salvezza, implica una chiamata e un impegno per ciascuno di noi. È l’impegno della conversione, l’impegno di assumere in noi la grazia per cambiare rotta se ci ritroviamo a muoverci con la nostra vita per strade e direzioni diverse da quelle che lui ci indica.
Reflecting on today's Gospel, that of January 25th in the liturgical Year B, Jesus says: "The time is fulfilled and the reign of God is near. Convert yourselves and believe in the Gospel." The fullness of time here means that the Son of God is present among us. It also means that the Good News of salvation is being announced. This implies a call from Jesus and an acceptance and a commitment on the part of each of us.
Ritornando a quanto detto nella poesia,"un frutto appena morsicato" può essere un invito a rivedere quanto hai fatto finora ed essere pronto nuovamente a impegnare i tuoi talenti in qualche campo che ti é congeniale, ma con indirizzo prevalente di amore verso Dio ed il tuo prossimo.
Returning to the line of poetry I cited above, "putting aside a fruit we have just tasted", this can mean an invitation to review what we have done until now and be ready again to recommit our "talents" to that area of life where we find ourselves. However, this time with a greater focus on the love of God and our neighbor.
