Do you remember the parable of the "The Good Samaritan"? Do you remember how, unlike the other travellers, he stopped to help the unfortunate victim of violence, how he gave his time and comforting words, to the point where he was personally involved in assisting this victim, even to the point of giving economic help?
Do you remember his compassion which enabled him to give a real help, not just a compassionate glance, but a help where he was able to give first aid, then transport the helpless victim to a place of care where he even paid for the cure?
All of this means a generous soliderity, a concrete help and a fulfillment of the commandment to love. What can we do nowadays when we find ourselves in a similar situation like that of 2,000 years ago? What should we do when we find ourselves in front of people who due to an illness have fallen down or who have been involved in a road accident or who are victims of a brutal violence, such as mugging, buglary or armed robbery. Or what should we do when people who are victims of poverty, alcohol or drugs laying on the ground?
