Il poeta Tagore esortò Nino Salvaneschi in questa impresa con l'invito :" Se vuoi essere un cantastorie cieco, guarda la tua vita riflessa dentro di te e scrivi. "
Nel 1926 organizzò un corteo di persone cieche e li portò in pellegrinaggio da Padre Pio di Pietralcina, portando in dono un giglio, un olivo ed un biancospino, simboli di purezza, umiltà e tribolazioni, ed il frate, ora santo, diventò per molti anni la sua guida spirituale.
Salvaneschi muore a Torino nel 1968.
Salvaneschi ha vissuto per regalare agli uomini di poca vista la meravigliosa luce della vita. Uomo di poco rumore, privo di ogni scandalo umanistico si dedicò alla sua grande passione, quella di trasmettere il suo amore, la sua fede attraverso la stesura di più opere, insegnando ad amare la vita, ed avere fede nei momenti di sconforto, proprio lui che rimase vittima di una grave malattia quale la cecità. Ha insegnato ad amare Dio e della sua vita ne ha fatto un bastone su cui poggiarsi ed uno specchio da cui specchiarsi.
The Poet Tagore exhorted Nino Salvaneschi to continue collectng his writings and publish them, "If you want to be a blind story-teller, look at your life as you would in a mirror and write about it." In 1926, Salvaneschi organized a group of blind people and he took them on pilgrimage to Fr Pio di Pietralcina. He brought Fr. Pio three gifts: a lily, an olive branch and a beautiful white flower with many thorns called in Italian, "Biancospino" as symbols of purity, humility and tribulation. And Fr. Pio, now Saint Pio, became his spiritual guide for many years.
Nino Salvaneschi died in 1968 in Turin, Italy.
Salvaneschi lived his life in order to give the marvelous light of life to men and women who lack vision physically, but especially, those who have limited spiritual vision in times of suffering.
Salvaneschi was a man who avoided pubblicity. There were no scandals in his life. He dedicated his life to his great passion which was to transmit his love and his faith through his writings and books. He taught others to love life and have faith in times of suffering; and he was a man who knew about suffering as he was completely blind for many years. He taught others to love God; in doing so, he made his life a support for others or a mirror which they could use as they journeyed in life or reflect on their own lives by looking at his.
